Libraries @ CMU

You are here:

Hi All,

Happy summer! We wanted to give you all an update from the University Libraries.

Liaison updates

We have welcomed a new library liaison for the SCS, Lauren Herckis! She and the other liaisons for SCS can connect you with the libraries’ services, purchase items for the collections, and help you with general information needs. Any of us can help you, but we do have assigned departments as well. See below.

Lauren Herckis: HCII, LTI, ISR, RI

Jessica Benner: CSD, ML

Huajin Wang: CBD

Here are a few basic orientation slides about Using the Libraries. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions. We are available for remote/virtual research consultations, as well as classroom visits. In addition, we can assist you or your students with any needed purchases for teaching or research and connect you with other specialists across the libraries as needed.

Open Access updates

CMU libraries now have Open Access agreements with five publishers, Elsevier, ACM, PLOS, Cambridge, and Wiley. Any CMU corresponding author publishing their work in the journals and some proceedings published by these five publishers is eligible for open access default publishing option and no APC fund is needed. If you are a corresponding author publishing in an open journal or hybrid journal with intentions to move to open outside of the publishers above, you may be eligible for support from our Article Processing Charge Fund.

Service updates

The Libraries would like to highlight our services such as Research Metrics Services, Research Data Management, Open Science & Data Collaborations, and Evidence Synthesis Services. Librarians trained to provide these services would be happy to support your department. If you’re interested, sign up for the University Libraries’ newsletter for monthly features, tips, news, service, and collections updates.

Enjoy the summer,

Jessica, Huajin, and Lauren
