METALS Academy

In Ken Koedinger’s E-Learning Design Principles course students learn about e-learning design principles, the evidence and the theory behind them, and how to apply these principles to develop effective educational technologies. Students learn design principles for 1) combining words, audio, and graphics in multimedia instruction, 2) combining examples, explanations, practice and feedback in online support for learning by doing, and 3) balancing learner versus system control and supporting student metacognition. Students read about the experiments that support these design principles, see examples of how to design such experiments, and practice applying the principles in educational technology development. Below are modules that students created as part of the course. Please explore.
